Honestly, the last thing Nick wanted was to be sleeping on an air mattress again. Furniture shopping for the bedrooms at the very least couldn’t happen fast enough. The day had been a good one, and hopefully the next few days would be at least as relaxing. Thinking over things, it had even been four days since he’d needed to talk to Charles, and with the way things had been going, that felt kind of like a record.
Closing his eyes, he thought over the events of the last week – there had been so, so much, and he was still on edge from some of it, wondering when it would come back to bite him in the ass. There was, of course, Brandon’s impromptu ‘vacation’ he was concerned about, due to not knowing when Brandon would be back, or what sort of condition he would be in. Rather than focus on the bad, he instead tried to focus on that day – the part where he had fun with friends and family.
After a bit of reminiscing, he got up and dug around for a notebook he knew he had somewhere, in order to jot down some lyrics that came to mind. Music would soon follow, he knew, and notebook paper was good enough for an improvised scale. The particular song he was working on had a particular message, in that he was trying to convey to enjoy the little, passing moments in life. In other words, don’t miss out on all the little bits of joy and happiness.
He spent a while like that, just scribbling things out, not getting an instrument so as not to wake anyone up – he could more freely do that after he got acoustic panels set up in his music room. During this time, he wrote out lyrics for a few potential songs, just feeling a wave of creativity wash over him. So he ignored the call of sleep, and the aches of his body due to sitting cross-legged on the floor for so long.
Eventually, the creative well eased up. He stretched, and climbed back onto the air mattress, laying out on it and thinking things over again while waiting for sleep to come. He wanted to have a talk soon with his sister – but he also wanted to call and make that appointment for a recording studio. It had been nearly a month since he’d had that visit, and he had a few things he felt might be good enough to record finally, he felt. Maybe it’d help the creative dry spell he’d been having until now – who knew?
Beyond getting a studio session and talking to his sister, he wanted to have time with Ryan and Alyssa. He felt a little guilty. Things always seemed to be so busy that it didn’t seem like he had much time with them, and of the two, he felt for sure that Ryan had seen him more. So definitely, some time with his partners was in order. His last thought before sleep overcame him was to remind himself that furniture needed to happen as soon as possible – an air mattress just didn’t cut it.
