Nikki Fics ~ Post One

Nikki pours herself a cup of coffee, making it just the way she likes before lifting it to her face and inhaling deeply. Carrying the coffee to her room, she bypasses the noise of the games in the living room for her sanctuary. Closing the door behind her, she takes a sip of the beverage, then sets the mug on her desk. Sitting down, she pauses to make sure that her furbaby isn’t near the wheels of the chair before she scooches the chair in and loads up Google Drive.

File, new, document…a blinking cursor greets her. She starts to type and then just stops…unsure of how to start, what to say…or even what topic to discuss. Sipping the coffee some more, she takes a few minutes to center herself. She’s done this before – she’s had to write while dealing with roommates – it’s just been a while. ‘I can do this’ she kept telling herself. Eventually, she minimized the document with the taunting, blinking cursor, and went online, first making a post to her Twitter account, and then logging in to make a blog post to notify her fans that yes, she was, in fact, still alive.

That finished, and her coffee now nearly gone, she went back to the document. Cursor still there, still blinking…but not as daunting. Now…now she thought she could get something down. Now was the time for words. Centered and getting into the zone, she began to type.

Gone were her doubts of his being a demon. Demons didn’t look, act, or behave as he did, in her experience. Going to the opposite spectrum, he was hardly an angel. Angels just didn’t do the things he did. He was more than a man. Men didn’t have the kind of power he wielded. No. In conclusion, he was a god. A deity of some power; but with all the same foibles as humanity.

This flitted through Jesse’s mind in an instant as she stared up at his perfect features. Well, perfect to her, she admitted. Garrett reached out just then to caress the side of her face. She placed her smaller hand over his, and leaned into his touch. He wasn’t prone to displays of affection often, so she took them as she could get them.

‘Please…’ she thought. ‘Please don’t leave yet.’ she could feel tears threatening to spring to her eyes. Was it so wrong to want one night of normalcy from him? One night of love and romance and, yes, sex too? No…it wasn’t wrong of her to desire it, she decided. Gods have lain with mortals for millennia…but a relationship? It was impossible.

Garrett looked at her longingly, his gaze never straying from her face. He was at a loss for words, so, rather than speak, he leaned down, pressing his lips to hers. He wanted her – he always wanted her – but some restraint was in order. After all, he didn’t want to hurt her if he could help it. Pulling away, he brushed a thumb against her face, wiping her tears away.

“Shhh, don’t cry.” he said softly. “I’ll stay a while longer.”

Nikki finished the cold dregs of her coffee. What now? She was stuck again, and unsure of where to go. Well….perhaps she would think of more later. For now though, it was a good piece, she felt, if a bit too close to home meets wishful thinking.
