Character Background: Eric Haraldsson

Eric was born in Norway sometime during the tenth century. Relatively little is known about his life prior becoming a vampire, and it isn’t certain that he cares to recall his days as Eric Bloodaxe.

Not unwilling to share his former name with those who asks, he divulges no further information on the subject, leaving the asker to scour the internet or books for information, or to simply assume.

Privately, he keeps the lessons learned from mortal life and expounds upon them, bettering his skills and studies of tactics and warfare over the years not spent in torpor, going so far as to study the varied conflicts of the eras after his death.

Initially a former Prince for the Camarilla, he openly defected when the Sabbat came to invade his territory, surprising members on both sides. His friend of many years, a shieldmaiden by the name of Astrid, helped him fight his way out of the city, ultimately sacrificing herself for his safety, believing wholeheartedly that he could somehow win.

Having proven his loyalty by slaughtering his former subjects without hesitation, as well as subsequent skirmishes with the Camarilla, he was placed into a pack, where he gradually worked his way up the hierarchy, proving time and again that the eldest weren’t always the wisest. Several times a younger cainite could get one over on him, but never enough to take his life, and he ceded when this was true, choosing not to be stubborn about the matter, but instead choosing to bide his time and wait for another opportunity.

Stubbornness did get a hold on him, however, when a pack he’d been a part of readily agreed to what he clearly saw as poor judgement. He went along with their plan, and watched as the other members suffered for it, finally killing the ductus by his own hand for not thinking of the well-being of his pack.

His current pack consists of Nikolai Dragomir and the Ambrosini twins. Initially, he did not care for them, but learned to work with them, and it did not take long for him to learn that one does not mess with the twins, at least not wisely.

Modern nights find him playing referee to conflicts both major and minor in Salem. While he seems to not be amused by this, in reality he is, finding the petty challenges of Monomacy and other such matters a source of entertainment for otherwise boring nights. Recently, he has also made it clear that he will oversee the Creation Rites, along with Alessandro.
