Petra looked out the window of her room at the gray day outside. It was overcast, and the clouds looked ready to burst, but it hadn’t quite started to rain yet. Music played quietly in the background, and she checked her watch for the time. It was late in the morning, nearing lunch. She let the curtain fall back into place and wandered into her room, stretching a little before picking up her laptop, and settling onto the bed with it. She laid on her stomach, feet in the air, resembling the teenager she was sometimes accused of being by those who didn’t know better.
Idly browsing for manga for her collection, she paused when she received an email notification on her phone. Rather than read it on the phone, she pulled it up on the computer, and began to read. It wasn’t a long email, and she read it over a couple of times, sighing slightly but smiling after doing so. Vince didn’t often reach out, so he must have something on his mind, she reasoned. Thinking it over, she hit the reply button, and began to type.
Dear Vince,
It’s nice to hear from you. Thanks for updating me about how you’ve been doing— I’m glad you’ve gotten better about keeping in touch. You mentioned being in New York— how is it? Are you there just to check on your bar, or some other reason? I hear it’s got a Prince now— have you bothered to introduce yourself, or are you keeping to yourself? I assume the latter. Don’t cause too much trouble now 😉
It’s been a while since I’ve been to New York, and I kind of miss it. Pick me up something if you have the inclination? I know I could just ask Brandon if I wanted but, well, you know me— I feel bad enough just asking him for blood every month. I’d love to join you, but I have to stay where Brandon needs me.
You mentioned having a date— that’s great! It doesn’t matter if it’s not romantic, sweetie. You’re okay to have friend dates, there’s nothing wrong with that. If you’re not looking for romance, that’s fine. If you’re just looking for a good lay, that’s okay too. You’re allowed to make friends. Hell, I’d be happy if you did make some friends! You needmore than just myself and Brandon.
So get your ass out there, and make friends! :p
As for being in New York? It’s okay to stay for a while. I know you don’t like to put down roots, but it’s okay to stay in place for a couple of years now and again. Being constantly on the go can’t be healthy, even for a Gangrel.
Vince, you know I love you, and want what’s best for you. I don’t know what the situation is there, but you’re allowed to rest, relax, and not get involved if you don’t want. I encourage you to stay for a while and assess. I especially encourage you to reach out and try to make a new friend or two.
