So, I’m Skyler – nice to meet you!
What’s to know about me? I’m a 22 year old Gemini located in Arizona, and I work as a paramedic. Yes, it’s a hard job, but it’s something I ultimately enjoy doing.
I like to help people, and I decided back in my senior year that, rather than try to be a doctor or even a nurse, that being a first responder would be somewhere I could make more of a difference, and ultimately be more rewarding, and, for the most part, it is.
As for the hard stuff? Well, let’s just say I’ve gotten decent at my poker face, and save my breakdowns for when I get home.
Greeting me when I get home is the emptiness of my apartment – empty of people, at any rate. Scotch (short for Butterscotch) is generally pretty quiet though.
He naps a lot, but then I guess most cats do. He’s always happy to see me come home, though, and most of the time is willing to cuddle (unless wants food – or pets).
It’s been just me and Scotch for a while now – I got him after my ex and I split – but let’s not go there – Matt was a bad decision and it was a while ago, no matter what his drunk/stoned texts say.
Moving onward, I’ll continue on and say I was adopted. I have no problems with this, and in fact think highly of my parents for choosing to adopt after they learned they couldn’t have any of their own. After all, I don’t imagine it can be easy to take care of a kid when you don’t know what kind of history you’re getting yourself into.
As for my birth parents, I don’t know anything about them – not why they gave me up nor if they are looking to find me. And you know what? I don’t think I mind, at least not about the looking for me part. It used to bother me a lot more than it does now, wondering why.
For those wondering, I don’t spend all my time working and sleeping, I do in fact have hobbies. Depending on the season and how much time off I have, I’ll sometimes go camping in the desert, just to see the stars (astronomy is kind of a hobby of mine – I like to try and figure out the constellations away from all the light pollution – not as easy with so many stars!).
I also like to bake, and tend to bring in goodies for the other EMT’s – especially in preparation for a long shift. I also like to read (my tastes can sometime vary wildly) and catch the occasional show or movie via Netflix.
As for a social life, I have a few friends – mainly my emt partner Jimmy (we guy watch and gossip together). Everyone else is mostly a work acquaintance, and I sadly don’t hear much anymore from high school friends beyond their Facebook statuses.
C’est la vie. Oh well, lo que será será.
That’s all for now – I’ve got work here shortly.
