Nick v9

Nick laid in bed, on arm behind his head, the other around Ryan, staring upward in the darkness. Ryan was asleep at this point, but Nick had some time before the pull of sleep claimed him, and he was fighting it. There was too much on his mind, and his hope of having his lover’s presence against him was not as settling as he had hoped.

Too much had been going on, and he’d been mostly silent about the pain that had occurred after he’d tried summoning Craig — only his coterie was somewhat aware of it. At the forefront of his thoughts were two recent and scary incidents, only one of which involved a friend.

Adam had broken, and as a result, a repressed personality had been brought forth. No one, not even Tavi it seemed, had been aware this was even possible. Methos, as he was known, was a scary individual, largely because he was an unknown factor; an ancient Methuselah on the loose, one with no compunction about doing or taking what he wanted.

He wasn’t sure what was scarier — having met Caine, or Methos. Mulling it over, he decided on the latter. While Caine’s motivations were as equally unclear, Methos was a more present threat. Thinking it over, he shifted slightly, pulling Ryan even closer to him. He had an unspoken fear of Methos finding Ryan, and diablerizing him. He planned to do what he could to steer Methos’ attention away from Ryan — or anyone else, if he could help it.

Panic began to rise in his chest, and he shifted again, running his fingers through Ryan’s hair to try to elicit a soothing response for himself. Almost as if sensing it, Circe jumped up with a little “mrrp”, and curled up on his chest, and began to purr. He placed his other hand and srtiched the cat a moment before petting her, finally just resting his hand on her little body, feeling her purr. It helped.
I should sleep, he told himself. The pull to sleep as the sun continued to rise was getting much stronger, and harder to resist. With a heavy sigh, he settled in to rest, content for a moment, at least. Tomorrow would bring another night, with fresh issues, he was certain.
