Lilith Westenra, formerly Lillian Murray, is Lucy’s mother. She came from a Catholic household with a younger brother (Robert), and a twin sister (Rebecca). In her teens, she took rebellion to heart, but was backwards about it. Rather than do some self-discovery, she took to doing the complete opposite of her family’s faith and expectations.

In the mid to late nineties she was part of the goth scene, dressing and acting the part to purposefully stress out her parents. In addition to this, she read horror novels and fell in love with Dracula and the vampire myth in general. It was during this time she would meet her future husband. She tried bringing him home to meet the family, warning him ahead of time, and they disapproved of him right off.

Furious, she disowned herself from her family and cut off all contact with them, shortly thereafter going through the process of legally changing her name from Lillian to Lilith, and then married three years before her daughter was born. In the interim, she has become an author of sorts, writing out her paranormal fantasies and selling them under the name Lilith West. Presently, she publishes independent of any publisher, and makes more of a profit by doing so.

Her relationship with her husband seems normal enough, despite eccentricities, to outsiders. The reality of it it, however, that she can be very demanding and high-maintenance. Her relationship with her daughter is little better. As a child, she treated her daughter like a doll. As she grew older and began to develop, she saw her as a minor rival for attention, and thus the relationship is less like a mother-daughter relationship and more like a queen bee and underling relationship.

It should be noted that by this point in her life, Lilith lives by the same rules she employs to piss off her family, not really realizing she is free to make other choices.

Kalibus Westenra, formerly Corbett Smith, is Lucy’s father. He was born to two intelligent, science minded people with no real fath to speak of, as their only child.

His fascination with death came early enough, with the advent of horror movies and novels, though the real fascination didn’t kick in until he’d read Dracula and other various vampire novels and seen the movies. The concept of vampires fascinated him, and it helped shape his path in life.

In the mid to late nineties he was part of the goth scene, dressing and acting the part due to actual interest in goth culture. It was during this time that he met his future wife. After seeing her for about a year, he brought her home to meet his parents – this would be after the disastrous scene with her family. Not overly understanding, but supportive of their son, they welcomed her into the family, and helped to support the two young lovers after graduation.

It was Lillian’s wish that they both change their names in order to begin their new life – she’s the one that urged him to choose Westenra as a last name, and he decided himself to use his scene name. Immediately upon graduation was when this happened, and he enrolled in the University of Michigan, initially to study forensic science. though he did achieve a lesser degree in this field of study, he opted to become a mortician instead, largely at Lilith’s behest – she thought it would be more dramatic and interesting for the lifestyle she wanted to lead.

His relationship with his wife comes across as normal enough, despite eccentricities. However, though he doesn’t necessarily see thing this way, she’s controls and manipulates him to get what she wants.

His relationship with his daughter is more normal. Though he doesn’t understand her religious preference, he dotes on her as time and Lilith allow. He cares very much for Lucy and would do anything to protect his family, provided he has the capability.

prostat_testini_hangi_yasta_yaptirmali_b.jpgRoger Smith is a prestigious and well respected doctor, and father to Corbett (now Kalibus). While he doesn’t understand his son’s hobbies and interests, he is highly supportive of his son, and will do anything to help, within reason.

Lucy, his granddaughter, is the light of his life. He’s always enjoyed her visits, and succumbs to her slightest whim, he’s that wrapped around her little finger.

It was Roger who helped start Lucy on the path to technology, with encouragement from his wife and son after the fact.

middle-aged-woman-t.jpgGretchen Smith is a former child psychologist (with a minor in sociology), now professor at the University of Michigan, and mother to Corbett (now Kalibus). She was the one to encourage her son’s exploration into the goth culture, and tries very hard not to psychoanalyze him – instead, she remains supportive.

She doesn’t think much of her daughter-in-law, though keeps that in check for sake of family relations.

Lucy, her granddaughter, she likes to spoil. She’s taught Lucy to cook, and has helped encourage her granddaughter in whatever endeavors she’d like to try, believing this to be healthy for a child’s psyche.

While she doesn’t buy into the whole goth scene as much as her parents do, she does like the style, choosing to go cyber goth as opposed to her mother’s more traditional goth, or her father’s victorian goth.

With encouragement from her grandfather, she got into computers and technology, taking to it like a fish to water. Unbeknownst to her, her grandparents have for years been putting money into a college fund for her, expecting her to attend the University of Michigan one day.

Lucy’s own interests lie mainly in computers, though she is into the paranormal, to an extent, though she refuses to read anything that her mother has written, simply out of protest and a desire to know nothing about her mother’s fantasies.

She tolerates her mother’s whims, growing increasingly tired of her mother’s childish (to Lucy’s eyes) behavior. Her father, on the other hand, she adores, and happily tries to put him in a better mood after work – generally by making him a decent meal, since her mother will never lift a finger to actually cook.

If she ever wants or needs anything, however, she goes to her grandfather and asks, knowing that’s the best likelihood of getting her hands on the latest tech gadget she’s interested in.

Her interest in hacking grew from various media, and she decided to try it herself. Due to her aptitude, she became very skilled and very smart about it, very quickly. It’s also how she pads her allowance. She knows it’s technically wrong, but she only takes from greed – as much as she can help anyway.

Lucy knows nothing about her mother’s side of the family however, as her mother refuses to talk about them, and although she’s tried, she hasn’t been able to scrub up any history, largely because her mother has never told her her real name.
