Lucy’s Introspection

Lucy lay in the tent, wide awake and thinking over her life. Everything was different now – so changed so….unwanted. She didn’t want to be a giant razor clawed fuzz bucket – she just wanted to be Lucy. Sighing, she rolled over and put her back to Vi, unable to sleep (not that she ever needed much sleep anyway). Since she had nothing to do, she turned her thoughts towards the other members of her pack.

Vi was starting to seem more human. Teaching her how not to be as superficial and Queen Bee as she seemed might be difficult, but it could be done. Probably. She still didn’t like Vi much, and wouldn’t listen to any of her commands were she in charge, but that was at this stage of the game. They were all likely scared and unsure of themselves at this point. She knew she was.

Vash she wasn’t sure what to make of. He’d always been overly academic, and that seemed to be due to paternal pressure, something he needed to learn to stand up to – especially if he might end up leading the pack some day. It didn’t make sense for a leader to succumb to an outsider’s whims. Beyond this, Lucy didn’t know what to make of Vash.

Finn seemed like a good sort, if temperamental, but Lucy chalked this up to having had to survive on the streets for so long. She tried not to take any of her gruff comments personally due to this factor, but tried not to be charitable to her because she felt Finn would be offended. Instead, she offers to help. So in conclusion, she thought, Finn is a good person at heart, but even she admits she wouldn’t make a good leader.

Then there was Jason. She hadn’t expected to like him as much as she did, but he was perfectly adorkable sometimes, and she liked that. He may not have Vash’s looks, but he had more personality. She supposed that’s why she felt like kissing him earlier. Sure, she enjoyed picking on him a little, but she’d been wanting to anyway – she just needed a point when no one else was around.

Stupid rule. She thudded the ground with her fist. It was stupid, to her, that it should be forbidden to pursue a relationship with someone she liked, just because they were both werewolves. She hated being told what to do, when the principle behind it seemed flimsy or stupid, like this one. Still…

Lucy didn’t know why she was getting so worked up over things to begin with – it’s not like Jason reacted any way but startled, and she didn’t know his thoughts on the matter. Maybe she’d never find out, either. Hell, maybe she should just give up.

That thought pissed her off a little, and she scolded herself for thinking that way. I don’t give up.she thought. I don’t ever give up – if I hit a roadblock, I look for a backdoor. That’s what I’m good at, and I can do that here, too

Satisfied with her resolve, she rolled onto her back and closed her eyes, trying to get some sleep. Camping, she decided, would really be better if she had better company in the tent with her.
