Jacqueline paced her living room. She had been in a good mood earlier, having helped coerce Jett into a tailored suit – even helped pick it out for him. Now, however, she was restless. She was without a regular donor – so far she’d gotten blood from Petra – but she didn’t want to rely on Petra. She didn’t have to worry about the blood blond – it was something she was immune to. No…she just wanted some stability, and not have to flit from donor to donor if she could help it. Certainly, she would not accept from Marcus – she still didn’t like the man for what he had done to her beloved.
Sighing, she changed directions, and the course of her thoughts. She needed work as well. She needed an income or she wouldn’t be able to survive on her own for much longer, and she’d had no luck looking for work in her field. She didn’t want to have to slum it, but no one seemed to need a financial adviser or accountant, two things she was rather gifted at. Perhaps she could ask one of the vampires for help.
Frustrated, she changed direction yet again. She didn’t know who she could rely on. Petra, she knew, had Nikolai, who took care of all her financial things, and thus would require no one further. She didn’t know hardly any other vampires in town, save for Vince and Jett – both of whom seemed unlikely to need someone with her capabilities, but could prove to be useful donors. There was Lucas, who was a dear – but he was just a student, and again, no one in need of her services. The last vampire she knew was Brandon, and it didn’t seem right to ask him about potential work…but if anyone knew of someone who’d need her skills, it was likely him.
Settled on a course of action, she headed upstairs to head to bed. Tomorrow evening she would present herself to him, and inquire if he knew anyone that might be in need of her skills, while being apologetic for bothering him at the same time.
