Nick drove home, still in disbelief at just how utterly stupid Joseph had been about the robbery. While he and Sayuri had been successfully able to get him out of the morgue, it’s not like he was keen on it. On the other hand, it’s not like he’d never seen a body before, either. Shaking his head, he pulled into his parking space, and headed up to his apartment after making sure Chase was taken care of. He fed Chase, then stretched out on the couch, making sure to put up his bad leg while he attempted to relax.
There were other stressors, of course. He had concerns over what Brandon would want done about Bobart, since Bobart suspected him as a vampire, and had it written down, even though there was little info. Sayuri had made some headway on the Montecito boss’ surveillance – even found an ultra secure safe, though wasn’t able to get into it. A hopefully minor hiccup had been Mitzleplix knowing Joseph was something different. Still…it got him invited to the Elysium thing. Hopefully the ritual his mentor was enacting would bring Joseph back, so that would still be a thing.
On a brighter note, a small part of him was running on a ‘best big brother ever’ high after getting his sister the car he’d been promising her. Well, that and hearing his Dad say he was proud of him – especially after how bad things had been before he’d worked to get sober. Maybe even better than that, he’d been able to see Alyssa again. It had been difficult, sure. They’d remained on good terms, but he’d be lying if he said she didn’t look amazing and part of him still wanted her. That made him think, though.
He got up, making his way to his spare room to get his computer, and did a few searches for apartments in good areas of town that weren’t overpriced – including his own complex, and saved the links. Next, he got up and set his webcam up to record. He’d been promising her for months to hear him play and sing, and he might as well do that now. Picking up his guitar, he sat down and plucked out the tune he’d been working on, before smiling at the camera and switching over to an a cappella cover of a song, specifically “Something Just Like This” by The Chainsmokers ft Coldplay – he rather liked that track, and seemed to recall she did as well.
When he was done playing, he turned the camera off, and did some slight editing before uploading it as a private video, then copying the links to send to himself. The next step was to text Alyssa and let her know what was up with the links he was about to send. Pausing, he thought his words over before typing them all out, sending the links, and pressing send.
Hey. Sending you some links to apartments here in town since you said you were looking. They’re in good areas, and hopefully are to your liking – I can attest to one, as it’s the complex I live at. <a few links inserted here>
Sorry for the dump, but there’s one more <insert link to video>. I’ve been promising for a while to send you a bit of me and my music talent, so here it finally is. If I remember properly, it’s a song you like even. I think you have a few days in town yet? Maybe we can hang out again – I’ll have to make sure of my schedule first. Take care.
Part of him wanted to offer to let her meet Ryan, but he wasn’t sure that was appropriate, so he left it alone. Should she even still be a part of his life? He shook his head to clear it, mentally scoffing at his doubts. There was no reason for her to not be, after all. After taking several minutes to put his music room back together, he headed out to the living room to find something to watch before going to bed. He sent a simple text to Ryan, telling him he hoped he had a good day, to sleep well, and would talk to him later.
The other day with Ryan…it had been like coming home. Seeing Alyssa? It was like being tempted with forbidden fruit, though largely he suspected that association was due to a rank thing. Thoughts of either of them was not helping him relax, so he shut off the tv, and decided to take care of matters before heading to bed.
