Vignettes VI

Adriana tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and sighed. She didn’t have access to a personal blood supply here, so she was trying to make an arrangement via a red cross center to get access to donated blood. Sure, she could hunt…but she couldn’t pass it off as making out like most others could. She supposed she could use Dominate…but she didn’t like tampering with minds because she wasn’t sure she could do it precisely enough. At least, according to her mother she was worthless at it.

At the thought of her mother Adriana put a hand to her chest and let out slow, even breaths, even though she didn’t need to. The wrath of her mother was something she wanted to avoid if she could – her mother could be vicious, and it had incensed her that she had never been able to get back at Brandon. That was another reason she had wanted to meet him – he was the only one she’d ever heard of that had ever defied her mother.

After a few moments she was calm again. She opened her laptop, dreading to see if an email was waiting for her, but it would seem that her mother did not know she had fled Boston due to an impending coup yet. This was both fortunate and unfortunate. With a sigh of aggravation, she combed her fingers back though her hair, and tried to determine what she was going to do. She could hear her mother’s deprecating words now…it would be nothing new. She was, after all, the disappointment.

She scoffed after a bit. There was no point in worrying over something that hadn’t occurred yet. She instead began looking for rentals. She’d have to check her finances to see what she could afford first, of course. She wasn’t about to access anything other than her personal resources – besides, tapping into her mother’s funds would only alert her as to where she was, and the last thing Adriana wanted was to bring the holy hell her mother would create when her anger drove her here. Perhaps I should just leave, after all.

No, she needed allies. People on her side who could help defend her when the inevitable came. She was hoping to count the citizens of Willow Creek as such, though she’d only met four. Who all could she count on? She didn’t know – but made up her mind then and there to try and make friends of who she could, assuming they would trust her.

Mandy slept fairly soundly after her night with Timur – happily, too. When she woke, she was still in a good mood, and did her usual morning routine of shower, dress, then breakfast. She was supposed to have a lesson with Jakob today. She looked forward to it – it gave her a chance to find out if he’d be coming to the party or not. Truthfully, she was nervous about the party – not so much about performance, but about her father finding out. Sure, she could say she was going to a party at Brandon’s that day…but would he ask too many questions? If she didn’t say anything, would he show up to collect work and find out that way?

She didn’t know, and didn’t want to think about it. Though she did think of what she might wear to set the mood. Sure, it was a fetish…but who wouldn’t love it? She smirked a little as she drove out to Jakob’s, trying to predict reactions. She knew how Brandon and his boys reacted to it when she wore it…what about the other two? What about every one else? These questions occupied her until she arrived for her lesson.

Focus on the lesson today she told herself. and maybe sneak some peeks at Jakob – study him when he’s not looking.
