Donovan Worries

This was troublesome.

Mostly because Donovan didn’t know his enemy. That was usually his prime weapon – information. He had a rather vast network of informants and spies of various sorts that kept him appraised, but this time he was in the dark. This old domitor of David’s, who was she? What clan? What faction? How old? So many unanswered questions. This made it hard to plan and that bothered him. The first calls were to his friends in transportation, to lookout for anyone new coming to town. The next call was to to the Nosferatu, to see what they could find out about this “Jessie”. It wasn’t much to go on, they’d have to get back to him, but at least it was in motion
Lastly he called in a couple of his personal ghouls, and ordered them to keep an eye on David, park outside his house, follow him, whatever needed to be done, he was to be protected. He was certain Claude would also help in that regard if he was able, but Claude also had his own problems to attend to.
That too was an interesting prospect. Brandon was getting himself a Pet Assamite, and a well trained one at that. Perhaps he could manage to rack up a few favors and borrow him on occasion; that would be nice. Mandy as well was coming along nicely in her training, oh how he wished he’d spotted her before Brandon. Not that he and Brandon were enemies mind you, simply, he considered himself more of a rival. Brandon was the big fish in the pond, and Donovan wanted to get as big as he could without getting eaten by that fish.
Another thought. Lucas. A promising young lad, he could easily be molded into something useful if Donovan were to ghoul him, but should he? And how to approach it? Perhaps just come right out and tell him? That might sour his relationship with Michael. Then again, that might strengthen it, which in and of itself might be useful. A pathway to Mandy perhaps, through Lucas, to Michael, to Mandy, building favor and loyalty with one to cultivate friendship and favor with the other. That would be interesting, to all but swipe them out from under Brandon’s influence. The thought made him almost giddy. Definitely, something he’d have to work on. And this most recent trouble of Claude and David’s, might very well be his ticket in. He didn’t have any real pull at “The Company” but he did get information that flowed through it. Some of the details were sketchy, but perhaps that could be remedied
First a text message to David:
“David, in my attempts to help you it’s important that I know everything that’s going on. I’ll need you to bring me a copy of the contents of the thumb drive that was left for Claude, perhaps I can help you both.”
He expected some opposition to his request, but that bridge will be crossed when it’s come to. Next a message Mandy:
“Mandy I have some information that you may be interested in, concerning your father, Please come see me tonight at your convenience.”
After that, a message to Michael:
“Michael, I have something to discuss with you. It concerns Lucas. Please, come meet me tonight.”
There that seed was planted. Finally, Lucas:
“Lucas, we need to talk. Your friends have been lying to you; I want to help. Please come see me tonight.”
Having given his home address at the end of all appropriate messages, he had simply to make his home ready. A quick tidying up, locking of the basement door, putting books away. Making sure everything looked neat and presentable.
Let the games begin.
