Lucas Contemplates

Lucas hoped Brandon liked the sketch he’d left of him asleep. Sketching wasn’t something he did often, and though he was good at it, the tendency to do it was practically beat out of him by his father, who saw it as a worthless talent, and tried that much harder to cultivate sports into him. He’d enjoyed the previous evening. Jett had seemed happy to see Jacqueline, and had spent most of the evening with her – not that he particularly ignored Brandon or Lucas. Lucas knew though, that Jett felt guilty for having not spent any time with her recently.

He got up from his bed and picked up one of the import DVDs Brandon had brought over for him, and put one in to watch. He was in his room, so he could enjoy in peace – he didn’t know what Jett or Vince would think of it anyway. Probably nothing, but he still didn’t feel like getting picked on. He sat back and watched, though he didn’t understand. Still, he could pick up the basics of the plot. AS he watched, his mind drifted, and he thought over his life; where he’d come from, what his life was now and where to go from here.

His childhood had been okay, though not great. There was no physical abuse from his father, thankfully, but there had been plenty of emotional wreckage over the years. His mother loved him no matter what, he knew, but he wasn’t so sure about his father, despite how well things went when he visited with Brandon recently. Things had gotten better when he moved out to start university, and he counted himself lucky that he’d found the friends he did – they didn’t care about his orientation, and liked him for who he was. It was a relief to him, though he still had the shadow of his parents hanging over him.

Now, he was a vampire. He was slowly getting used to the idea that he had to drink blood for a living. What perturbed him was the fact that he enjoyed it – though he supposed, when he really thought about it, it was no different than enjoying a good burger. He unconsciously licked his lips as he thought about blood, remembering the taste of last evening’s meal. He counted himself lucky and perhaps a bit privileged that Brandon shared his people with him, and wondered if he ought to say thank you, and how he should do it. Maybe the drawing was enough.

Naturally, his thoughts brought him to Brandon. He rather liked the older man, and could understand, to a point, his philosophy of  ‘do what feels good’. Having been alive as long as he had, it made sense. With a sigh, he got up and switched to a different disc, then sat back on his bed, Brandon still in his thoughts. He wasn’t entirely sure how he felt about Brandon. Sure, he knew he liked him, but was there anything more? It was a question that was driving him nuts.

Upon hearing a car pull into the driveway, he switched off the DVD and headed out to greet Jett, who’d taken his car out for a test run. Lucas met him outside, and pulled him into the house. Jett smiled a bit, but Lucas’ face was serious.

“Lucas? Is something wrong?” Lucas didn’t answer right away. He led Jett into his bedroom, and shut the door behind the both of them before giving Jett a kiss. “Lucas?” Jett asked again.

“Sorry. It’s nothing. I’ve just had a lot on my mind.” Jett walked over and sat on the bed.

“Want to talk?” Lucas shook his head, then shrugged.

“Yes…no….I don’t know.” he finally said, throwing his hands up in the air.

“Lucas, what’s on your mind?” Jett said patiently.

“Brandon, mostly.” he said finally, after a long moment.

“Good or bad?”

“Depends on how you look at it.” Jett sighed and smiled and pulled Lucas close to him.

“You’ve fallen, haven’t you?” Lucas shrugged.

“I’m not sure. But yea, probably.”

“It’s okay, Lucas. I’m not mad, if that’s what you’re worried about, though I am going to talk to Brandon about stealing you from me.” he spoke the last part jokingly. Lucas smiled.

“You sure it’s ok?”

“Yes, I’m sure.”

“I love you, you know.”

“I know. I love you too.”

They both kissed and then laid on the bed, Jett holding Lucas close, and Lucas cuddling into Jett.

“Damn that man’s charm.” Jett mumbled into Lucas’ ear, and Lucas laughed, pulling Jett’s arms tighter around him. “Yea. How dare he be all charming and suave and sexy?” Jett laughed this time.

“Maybe you should ask him”

“Well maybe I will.”

“I dare you.”

“Really? A dare? What are you, ten?” Jet responded by licking Lucas’ earlobe, which made him shiver.

“Don’t start things you’re not going to finish.”

“Who said I wasn’t going to finish?”

Jett rolled onto  his back, pulling Lucas on top.

“You’re always the bottom…care to be a top this time?”

Lucas flushed. Apparently, he could do that. “Well…ok.”

He leaned forward and started the make out session with Jett, only hoping he made Jett happy.
